Key Highlights of the Course
Duration
The duration of the GNM programme is 3 years, followed by mandatory clinical training, as per regulatory guidelines. This comprehensive timeframe allows students to develop proficiency in nursing sciences, patient care techniques, medical procedures, and ward supervision. Throughout the course, students undergo hospital postings that strengthen their understanding of real-time clinical environments.
Eligibility
Students must have completed 10+2 in any stream, preferably with Science and English as major subjects. The eligibility criteria ensure that candidates have the academic background required for understanding nursing sciences and practical components. Students with a science-based foundation adapt quickly to subjects like anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical nursing.
Mode
The programme is offered in full-time on-campus mode, enabling students to participate in practical workshops, clinical postings, patient simulations, nursing demonstrations, and hospital-based training. This structured learning environment helps students acquire essential skills in patient monitoring, emergency care, record maintenance, medical assistance, and nursing documentation.
Internships
GNM internships provide extensive exposure to medical-surgical wards, ICUs, emergency departments, operation theatres, child health units, and community healthcare centres. During internships, students perform supervised nursing duties, assist in major procedures, manage ward responsibilities, and engage in patient education. This hands-on training helps students prepare for real-world healthcare roles and enhances their employability.
Career-Focused Curriculum
The curriculum covers an in-depth range of subjects including medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, child health nursing, mental health nursing, nutrition, and professional ethics. With a strong emphasis on practical learning, the programme equips students to work confidently in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, nursing homes, NGOs, and government healthcare agencies.
